Today, I was in charge of organizing a karate competition. The day was divided into three parts. The younger children competed in agility, followed by Kata and Kumite competitions. Kata is a "fight with a virtual opponent" and Kumite is a fight between two karatekas. Young fighters train and work hard every day. The more successful ones are rewarded with a medal and recognition from their opponents on competition day. Sometimes there are a lot of tears of disappointment and defeat at these competitions... but every participant takes something away with them when they leave – experience.
We paramedics, like karate practitioners, we also work hard and train hard. However, in our struggle, we are not concerned with medals or podium places. Unfortunately, we sometimes lose the fight, despite our determination, desire, and passion to fight for the most valuable thing, which is life. After every battle, even a lost one, we rise stronger and more experienced, just like karate practitioners.
One karate motto says: "Martial arts is not just about winning, it's about growing and learning from every experience."
I wish everyone lots of strength and determination.
